But she had flown to New York from her Edinburgh home for the occasion, she testified, because she felt so strongly about someone else turning 17 years of her labor on the Harry Potter series into an encyclopedia.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I found the article pretty interesting. I wonder if she has a case or not. Personally, I can totally understand her feelings, but it sounds like she may not win this one... She should have come out with her own encyclopedia faster. Anyways, the real die hard fans are probably going to buy whatever encyclopedia she will come out with... even if this unofficial one is out first.

A thinly disguised power grab on her part, and beneath the triumph of her writing.

Yeah this is starting to look like a desperate move on Ms. Rowling's part. I mean come on, what next? Is she going to go after him for publishing a book about Harry Potter locations on the premise that she could have written a better one?

This is sad because she is loosing some respect from some member of the community. It's a little weird because she sounds like a mother who can't let her child have their own lives (keeping the analogy of her books being her child)... she has to let go one day!
